Comando G La Bruja de Rozas Sierra de Gredos 2017

We return to Spain with Comando G's La Bruja de Rozas, a Garnacha which comes from Sierra de Gredos, a mountain range west of Madrid. I've mentioned this wine before and I'm excited the new vintage is just as good as the 2015.

Comando G is a project created in 2008 by two friends, Daniel Landi and Fernando Garcia, dedicated to reviving the wines of the rugged, rocky, difficult to farm region. They've done an amazing job, creating wines that are well worth the hard work - just as a previous generation had in Priorat. They work with 50-80-year-old Garnacha vines planted at 850m altitude; the vines for La Bruja de Rozas are on sandy granite soils. It's a superb expression of Garnacha: light but concentrated with a floral, perfumed nose and aromas of crunchy red fruit.

A great introduction to Spanish Garnacha, and a wine that will have you seeking out their single-vineyard expressions.
